As reported earlier today, Leonard Garcia (11-3) has agreed to a bout with Jens Pulver (22-9-1) which will take place on September 10 at WEC 36 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The bout has not been signed yet but confirmation is expected this week.
Garcia was recently cleared of all charges stemming from his alleged involvement in a Texas-based drug ring. He maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal and has recently been vindicated. His last MMA fight was in Febuary, a TKO victory over Hiroyuki Takaya.
Jens Pulver will be returning to action after his unanimous decision loss to WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber who will also be fighting on the card against Mike Brown.
Pulver was originally rumored to be fighting Alexandre Franca Nogueira before Nogueira was suspended for a year for testing positive for a banned substance.
In a recent interview Garcia had this to say: “You can’t change things in your past,” said Garcia. “But looking back, I knew what [that friend] was doing, and I shouldn’t have been around him. But you get the dog, you get the fleas. … Had I known I could be in this much trouble for hanging around with him, I would have never done it. Now if I see him, I’ll definitely turn the other way.”
Look for the Pulver/Garcia match-up live on the Versus Network Sept. 10, and prepare for the heavy handed featherweights to steal the show.
