According to the California State Athletic Commission, Brazilian Alexandre “Pequeno” Nogueira has tested positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone. On the heels of his second round TKO loss to Jose Aldo at WEC 34 on June 1st, which many consider to be an upset for the former Shooto champion, Nogueira now faces a yearlong suspension.
The CSAC said the fighter’s “A” sample was tested at Quest Diagnostics and his “B” sample was tested at Laboratoire de Controle du Dopage in Laval, Quebec, Canada.
Before the positive result, Nogueira was rumored to next be fighting Jens Pulver in a WEC event planned for October.
Along with the suspension, “Pequeno” will be fined $2,500 for his actions.
