Tito Ortiz will face undefeated rising MMA star, Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 which will take place exactly one week from today. Win, lose or draw it will be Ortiz’s last fight under his current contract with the UFC and he will shortly thereafter become MMA’s biggest free agent. Just don’t expect the UFC to be in line to negotiate for his services.
Ortiz, who remains of the biggest draws in UFC history despite his inability to hold a title for the past couple of years, has clashed incessantly with UFC president Dana White who has engaged Ortiz in a very public war of words.
White provided more fuel for the fire of their intense lexical battle during a recent press conference for UFC 84.
“When was the last significant fight that Tito Ortiz won?” White asked. “In my opinion, the last significant fight Tito Ortiz won was when he beat Vitor Belfort. He’s not in anybody’s top 10 anymore. Saturday night’s going to be a big night for Tito. I think Tito’s made it very clear what his future in the UFC is, and I have no interest in being in the Tito Ortiz business anymore.”
White elaborated further on his personal feelings towards Ortiz.
“Tito’s a fucking idiot,” said White. “He’s one of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever met. Everything that comes out of his mouth makes no sense. I put up with his shit when he was a good fighter. He’s not anymore. Tito Ortiz is a liar. Tito doesn’t give a shit about anybody but himself. He’s proven that to me a million times.
Given the following comments, it should come as no surprise who White will be pulling for when Ortiz steps into octagon opposite Lyoto Machida.
“I’ve never wanted to see anybody get their ass kicked worse than I want to see Tito get his kicked on Saturday,” said White.
