Last Monday, Fightline.com broke the news that Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia were close to signing a bout agreement to square off against one another in an epic and highly anticipated match up of two of the worlds best heavyweights. Click here to view that report.
Our exclusive sources informed us that the fight was in “serious discussions” but was not yet a done deal. Then yesterday, Sherdog.com spoke directly with Fedor himself, who confirmed that the fight was set to take place and would be held this July.
Today, Vadim Finklestein, Fedor’s manager, confirmed our initial report, stating the following via M1mixfight.com:
“At the moment we can’t certainly say the bout will take place come July because the contract is not signed. However, the both parties are involved in the negotiation process and we are about to break the finishing tape although we haven’t come to an agreement concerning every detail as of yet”
As we’ve stated before, our sources tell us that this fight is highly likely to take place but is not yet a complete certainty. We have been told however, that the details are being hammered out as we speak and that the fight is very likely to take place this summer.
We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
