Cung Le is 5-0 and has succsessively stepped up in competition for each fight. Now it appears that Cung Le is ready for the next level. After his victory last night at the Strikeforce Middleweight Event, Le called out mma legend Frank Shamrock who accepted his challenge. Shamrock is a former UFC middleweight champion and currently holds the Strikeforce middleweight title. Shamrock is also among the worlds best at his weight and would represent Le’s first taste of an elite contender. Le sat down with mmajunkie to discuss Shamrock a little more:
MMAjunkie.com: You mentioned it after the fight, so let’s hear it again. What’s next for you?
CUNG LE: Obviously, I want Frank Shamrock. We can get it on. I think we should do it.
MMAjunkie.com: Huge fight?
CUNG LE: Great fight.
MMAjunkie.com: And the fans?
CUNG LE: I think they’ll love it. We’ll bring it.
MMAjunkie.com: And right here, in San Jose?
CUNG LE: This is the place to do it. We’ve got to do it here.
MMAjunkie.com: And the crowd?
CUNG LE: We’ll see who gets more cheers. I can’t worry about the cheers. I just have to worry about whose hand is raised at the end of it, and I want it to be mine. I’ve been looking forward to this fight — for me, but also for the fans and Strikeforce.
