The following is part of an article from Asbury Park Press:
[Frank Edgar] knows he needs a championship belt to start making real money. The kind of money that would allow him to stop working between fights, doing plumbing with his father.
In between jobs, he trains at a number of places, including Rhino Elite Wrestling in Brick.
He spent the last high school season working with Reid and the Raiders’ wrestlers, and these days finds himself spending three days a week in New Brunswick at Rutgers University, where Scott Goodale asked him to work as an assistant.
“You need a belt to make the big money,” said Edgar, who recently signed a three-fight deal that includes Saturday’s opponent, Spencer Fisher. “This will show how close I am to the top of the class. You take a fight like this so that you can one day be the best in the sport. To do that, you fight better and better competition on a bigger stage.”
In his last fight in July at UFC 73, he had a TKO against Mark Bocek. Edgar broke his nose during that bout.
