Paul Daley is a top fighter in Strikeforce’s welterweight division. He is also the current Cage Rage welterweight champion. In addition to the UFC, he has fought for EliteXC, Cage Rage, Strikeforce, Maximum Fighting Championship, Cage Warriors and Pancrase.
Daley was set to make his Affliction debut against Jay Hieron at Affliction: Trilogy, but the bout was scrapped with the folding of the promotion. He then signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and won his UFC debut, defeating top contender Martin Kampmann at UFC 103 in the first round due to strikes.
Daley was later banned for life from the UFC after sucker-punching Josh Koscheck at the conclusion of their bout at UFC 113, which Koscheck won by unanimous decision. He was also later given a 30 day suspension from the Quebec Athletic Commission. Daley would later apologize for the incident and sign with Strikeforce, where he made a triumphant debut after knocking out Scott Smith in the first round in December of 2010.
