Erick Silva kept up his string of quick finishes, taking out Takenori Sato Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 36.
One devastating kick led to several hammer-fists and a fourth finish inside the Octagon.
Silva (16-4) has posted a 4-3 UFC mark, with all but one of those being a finish of some sorts.
“I was working very hard for three months and I had to put on a very good show for everyone to believe in me,” Silva said. “Monday, I’ll be back in the gym.”
Sato, making his Octagon debut, wouldn’t release a single-leg takedown attempt and Silva made him pay, as he went out before the referee could step in and call things off.
“We knew he was left-handed and we wanted to get in a lot of body kicks,” Silva said.
After a knockout of Luis Ramos in 2011, Silva was dealt a DQ loss in a bout he was winning vs. Carlo Prater. He rebounded to submit Charlie Brenneman before dropping a decision to Jon Fitch.
In 2013, Silva experienced the high of victory when he submitted Jason High, and the low of defeat after being knocked out by Dong Hyun Kim.
