Eight-Fight UFC Veteran Nick Catone Announces His Retirement

Nick Catone was set to compete in front of his home fans later this year against Vitor Miranda at UFC on FOX 15.

Instead, Catone has announced that he will retire from MMA due to a series of injuries.

Catone (10-4) went 4-4 over eight Octagon appearances, including a split decision victory over Tom Watson last time out. He made his UFC debut in 2009.

“My back has probably been the biggest thing slowing me down,” Catone told “I’m not able to train like I used to. I train for a couple days, then I’m hurting for a couple of days. I still fought because I enjoy it, but when I’m waking up in pain every day, I’m just not enjoying it anymore.”

A new bout is expected to be added to the early UFC Fight Pass prelims, as Miranda (10-4) has also withdrawn. Below is the current card:
