Booto Guylain, a veteran of two MMA bouts inside the EFC AFRICA cage, has passed away. The promotion confirmed news of his death on their website.
Guylain suffered a serious head injury during his fight last Thursday. He was stabilized on scene, but was transported to the hospital with swelling and bleeding on the brain.
“We are devastated,” said EFC AFRICA president Cairo Howarth. “This is a huge loss to the sport and to all who know him. Our thoughts are with his family in this trying time.”
ONEPLAN, the EFC’s disability partner, will be providing financial support to Guylain’s family, which includes his wife and son.
At the next EFC AFRICA event on March 27, all fighters will be wearing black armbands in his honor and memory.
Guylain was 29 years old at the time of his passing.
