Eddie Alvarez and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney don’t have the same great relationship compared to a year ago. After a lengthy court battle, which involved Alvarez’s failed attempt to sign a UFC contract, he went back to Bellator.
The details of the new contract aren’t public record, but Alvarez was just happy to get back in the cage. Once his rematch with Michael Chandler was official, Alvarez let the anger go away.
“I let all that stuff go,” said Alvarez on The MMA Hour. “I let everything go. I said good luck to Mike before the fight. I said thank you to Bjorn before the fight. I let every ounce of anger, every ounce of animosity I had, I let it all go. I felt so good.”
The Bellator 106 main event saw Alvarez take the split-decision win to reclaim his title and avenge the loss to Chandler. For the second time, Alvarez-Chandler put on one of the best fights in the promotion’s history. A third and final match is being discussed.
