Donald Cerrone might not make the February UFC card in Denver. And that isn’t a problem for “Cowboy.”
Just days after handing Myles Jury his first pro defeat, Cerrone has agreed to step in as a replacement for Eddie Alvarez – who he defeated last year – and face Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 59.
The card goes down January 18 from the TD Garden in Boston. Conor McGregor-Dennis Siver is the main event, with Cerrone-Henderson taking co-headline billing.
Cerrone (26-6) has won 13 of his 16 UFC bouts and was immediately asking for his next fight after defeating Jury.
Henderson (21-4) is familiar with Cerrone, having defeated him twice while both were in the WEC. “Smooth” is looking to rebound following a loss to Rafael dos Anjos to close out 2014.
