Dominick Cruz admitted following his recent win over Takeya Mizugaki that his hatred towards Urijah Faber starts and ends there. It doesn’t include any other member of Team Alpha Male, including current UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw.
At the same time, Cruz knows the pack sticks together, and he’ll be fighting all of them when he faces Dillashaw in 2015 for the title. “The Dominator” was stripped of the belt after injuries kept him on the sidelines for an extended time, but he was deemed the No. 1 contender upon returning.
“It just goes back a long time,” said Cruz, of his issues with Faber and company, during a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com Radio. “The truth is, I cut one head off and another one keeps popping up. So I’ve already realized in my head, I’m fighting these guys. If it’s all of them, OK, let’s do it.
“I have a good track record against their style of fighting, and it’s not a personal thing when it comes to T.J. Dillashaw. It’s just, he’s got my belt and he thinks it’s his and it’s not. So it’s me vs. Team Alpha Male.”
Cruz (20-1) improved to a perfect 3-0 with the UFC by finishing Mizuaki in a matter of moments last month. He has completely recovered from two knee surgeries and a groin issue.
