UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz put a strong cap on his rivalry with Urijah Faber, defending his title in the co-main event of UFC 199 Saturday night.
It was all Cruz from the on-start, as “The Dominator” stunned Faber early, knocking him down. While he wasn’t able to get the finish, there was never a doubt who would have his hand raised at the end.
“It feels so good to compete again,” Cruz said. “I thought I lost this. I had to keep the faith…believe in yourself no matter what anybody says.”
Cruz was stripped of the title by the UFC due to a series of injuries. He returned in January after a year-long layoff and bested T.J. Dillashaw to win back the belt.
“My last fight, I wasn’t 100-percent,” he said.
A rematch with Dillashaw could be next for the champion if he can get through Raphael Assuncao this July at UFC 200.
