Six years after Diego Sanchez’s last performance in Houston and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner looks to leave a better impression in his return. At UFC 69, Josh Koscheck scored the decision win.
“It’s not about erasing bad memories, it’s more about redemption,” said Sanchez to Yahoo! Sports. “I just believe everything is coming around seven-fold for me. This is just a big part of God’s plan. I’m going to Houston and I’m going to give the fans there the performance that they didn’t get back at UFC 69.”
Sanchez, who seems to always earn Fight of the Night honors, is attempting to make lightweight for his meeting with former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez. Earlier in the year, Sanchez came in heavy in what was supposed to be his lightweight return.
They’re on the main card of UFC 166 on October 19. It’s out of the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.
