Demetrious Johnson Becomes First Fighter To Ever Finish Joseph Benavidez

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson entered hostile territory Saturday night in Sacramento against Joseph Benavidez at UFC on FOX 9.

That didn’t matter to “Mighty Mouse,” as he landed a right-hand flush to the face of Benavidez and finished his challenger in just over two minutes.

It marked the first time that Benavidez has been stopped in his career.

“A lot of people say I don’t have knockout power,” said Johnson, who improved to 19-2-1 with the victory. “I just displayed it.”

He added that his fight team helped to give him more power in his strikes by “settling my weight down.

“(And) this is just a sign of more things to come,” Johnson stated.

Back in 2012, Johnson claimed a split decision over Benavidez to become the first-ever UFC flyweight champion. He has now defended it three times, including two finishes.
