Danillo Villefort is one of four entrants in the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 5 middleweight tournament. The semifinal winners of today’s card, advance to the finals for the inaugural title at a later date. Villefort has drawn Dave Branch and is expecting to steal the show with a finish.
“I’m excited for this belt,” said Villefort to MMA Weekly. “I’m going to go crazy. They can expect a real exciting fight. I’m not going to play safe; I’m going to finish this fight. If he keeps running around like he does, I’m going to go after him. If he tries to take me down, I’m going to avoid his takedowns, and I’m going to take him down and I’m going to punish him. I’m going to show my pedigree.”
The other side of the tournament has Elvis Mutapcic vs. Jesse Taylor.
Villefort’s recent fights have come from Shark Fights, Strikeforce and WSOF. The WSOF win came from Kris McCray and was a split-decision.
Branch is 12-3 and won his two WSOF appearances by decision. This will be his second fight of the year.
WSOF 5 comes from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ with a main card that airs live on the NBC Sports Network. It’s later today, September 14, and FightLine will have the results.
