Daniel Straus Believes Nobody Thought He’d Beat Pat Curran

One of the major moments from Bellator 106 was Daniel Straus taking an easy decision over Pat Curran to claim the featherweight title. Straus felt many had counted him out before the fight even began.

“Everyone just saw it one way, him walking in, beating me up and going home the champ,” said Straus on Darce Side Radio. “I just didn’t see it that way. I knew I would beat Pat.”

Due to an arrest for drugs and a broken hand, Straus’ title shot was delayed. The 13 months away from the cage didn’t matter and Straus became 22-4 to go with his title.

Curran had his six fight win streak snapped. In 2009, he knocked out Straus for XFO. He wasn’t as lucky this time.

Bellator 106 was November 2 and came from the Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA.
