Daniel Cormier has stepped into the role vacated by Chael Sonnen as co-host of the weekly “UFC Tonight” show on FOX Sports 1, officials confirmed on Monday.
Cormier joins former UFC title contender Kenny Florian on the program, which offers breaking news, fight announcements and feature stories Wednesday nights on FS1. The former U.S. Olympian has frequented the program, and others on FOX, since signing with the UFC.
“I love being a part of UFC on FOX family and extending my mixed martial arts career,” Cormier stated. “The TV analyst role is exciting, fun and actually improves my fighting skills, because I see the action so differently now. I look forward to working with the team each week on ‘UFC Tonight’ and vow to bring the light heavyweight title belt with me to the desk in January.”
Cormier (15-0) is scheduled to meet Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title this January at UFC 182.
Sonnen was removed after a second failed drug test and subsequent release from the UFC.
UFC Tonight returns this Wednesday ahead of another new episode of The Ultimate Fighter 20 on FS1.
