UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier wants to fight in October near his hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana when the Octagon heads to Houston.
However, that timetable is now up to how Cormier’s knee responds to planned platelet rich plasma and stem cell injections that he needs to repair his injured ACL.
Cormier (16-1) won the title with a submission victory over Anthony Johnson last month, claiming the vacant belt. He is expected to meet Alexander Gustafsson in his first title defense.
News of the operation was first reported on “UFC Tonight” earlier this week.
