UFC president Dana White is excited about Saturday’s UFC 178 event. So much so, White can barely contain himself.
The card, which FightLine will have complete coverage of, features Demetrious Johnson defending his flyweight title against Chris Cariaso. Also, Eddie Alvarez debuts inside the Octagon vs. Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor takes on Dustin Poirier and both Cat Zingano and Dominick Cruz return to action.
But, let White tell you about everything going down this weekend, as he did in a recent interview with UFC.com when asked about a fight – or two – he was most looking forward to:
“It’s tough because it’s such a stacked card. This card is so (expletive) good,” White said. “Just look at the prelims. John Howard and (Brian) Ebersole, (Stephen) ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and (Patrick Cote, (Jorge) Masvidal vs. (James]) Krause is a great fight, and then (Takeya) Mizugaki vs. Cruz.”
White went on, discussing the McGregor-Poirier, which has been dubbed “The People’s Main Event” by many.
“The thing I love about the Dustin Poirier fight is that Poirier is nasty. This kid is coming to fight,” White said. “If you watch the ‘Embedded‘ that just came out, his stand-up looks awesome. The kid is 25 years old, Conor McGregor is 26 years old, their records are very similar. This is a bad ass fight.”
All of the action begins at 7 p.m. ET on UFC Fight Pass before shifting over to two hours on FOX Sports 1. The PPV main card starts at 10 p.m. ET.
