UFC president Dana White appeared Wednesday night on FOX Sports 1’s “America’s Pregame” show to discuss the Jon Jones situation.
The reigning UFC light heavyweight champion entered himself into a drug rehab facility Tuesday following a failed drug test that found cocaine metabolites in his system.
“He was in a good place going in there,” White said. “I’m sure he’s even in a better place (Wednesday).”
White stated that Jones’ UFC 182 opponent, Daniel Cormier, was not informed of the drug test result and there was “no reason” to tell him about it.
He continued when asked about canceling the fight, saying it would have only happened had Jones tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
“We are worried about Jon Jones the human being, the person,” White said, “not the image of the sport. We applaud him and support him.”
