With Roy Nelson and UFC president Dana White, they have a strictly business relationship. Often trading jabs, White now claims he needed to purchase Nelson’s contract from another company as he didn’t disclose the information to the UFC.
“You realize Roy came out of The Ultimate Fighter and had a contract with another promoter and didn’t know it,” said White. “I had to buy that other promoter out for Roy’s contract during The Ultimate Fighter. That’s how smart Roy Nelson is. Roy Nelson cost me a lot of money.”
Nelson would go on to win The Ultimate Fighter 10 and recently signed a new UFC deal. He takes on Daniel Cormier at today’s UFC 166.
Cormier is undefeated and was the Strikeforce grand prix champion. He won his UFC debut against Frank Mir via decision.
They’re the co-main event of UFC 166. It’s from the Toyota Center in Texas and airs on pay-per-view.
