UFC president Dana White and his staff have made a decision regarding the UFC middleweight title.
Former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold, and not Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, will be the next man to face Chris Weidman for the title. A date was not announced for the championship match.
Rockhold (14-2) is coming off a submission victory over Lyoto Machida, which ran his win streak to four in a row. Four of his last five fights have been finishes.
Weidman (13-0) earned his fourth straight win over a former Brazilian UFC champion when he finished Vitor Belfort last month. He’s also topped Anderson Silva twice and Machida.
