UFC president Dana White oftentimes throws around the label of pound-for-pound best MMA fighter in the world today.
After controlling Daniel Cormier and earning yet another successful title defense at UFC 182, Jon Jones has earned that title all to himself.
“Jon is on his way to being the best of all-time,” said White, during the post-fight show on FOX Sports 1. “He’s beat the who’s who. He just beat an undefeated Olympian and former heavyweight (contender).
“He has so many weapons and he looked as good as ever (Saturday night).”
Jones was forced to dig deep once again, much like he has done in title defenses vs. Vitor Belfort and Alexander Gustafsson.
“When he gets in a battle, Jon lets it all go,” White said. “Everything that led up to it….they went at it from the first bell to the fourth.”
White also gave his thoughts on the co-main event, which was won by Donald Cerrone. “Cowboy” stopped the unbeaten run of Myles Jury and cemented his standing in the lightweight division.
However, while Cerrone was disappointed with the decision, White disagreed.
“I thought he looked great,” White said. “Jury has this style where he is always moving and that throws you off.”
