Dana White Defends Jimi Manuwa As Alexander Gustafsson’s Next Fight

Daniel Cormier is still in the process of making a healthy cut from heavyweight to light heavyweight. Alexander Gustafsson was in need of an opponent and the UFC is giving Jimi Manuwa his biggest task to date. They meet in March 2014 out of England.

“Cormier has never made it to 205 pounds before,” said White. “The fight is going to be over in London and Manuwa is undefeated. He’s undefeated and he’s a big, nasty striker and he’s a light heavyweight.”

Manuwa has 12 wins, all ending within two rounds. He defended the UCMMA light heavyweight title five times before joining the UFC in 2012.

Gustafsson is coming off a loss to UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. A strong performance could lead to another title shot.

They meet out of the O2 Arena on March 8.
