UFC president Dana White has expressed his feelings about Conor McGregor time and time again. Following UFC 178, White was almost at a loss for words this time.
McGregor followed up his win in Ireland over Diego Brandao by finishing Top-5 featherweight Dustin Poirier in the first round. “Notorious” was the heavy crowd favorite, as thousands of Irish fans helped fill the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“He’s a legit force, bigger than I’ve ever seen,” said White, during his interview on FOX Sports 1. “Bigger than Brock Lesnar. Let’s just say we’re way over budget. The numbers, we attributed it to Conor.”
McGregor proclaimed that he would finish Poirier in the first round. He went out and did that, and made sure everyone knew that he was a man of his word. McGregor showed up on the FS1 post-fight show with his own world title belt, stating champion Jose Aldo had “handed it over” to him in the back.
Aldo is currently set to face Chad Mendes next, and when asked about McGregor being a contender after that, White simply said “I don’t know.”
