UFC president Dana White continued to be very critical of the fighters who took part in The Ultimate Fighter 19 during his recent “UFC Download” interview.
However, White still wants fans to be excited about Sunday’s card because it features the third meeting between rivals Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn. The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale airs on FOX Sports 1.
“There’s a fight on Saturday night with two titles on the line, and then Sunday, I’ve said it publicly and I’ll say it again – the worst season of The Ultimate Fighter – but headlined by BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar,” White said. “These kids better fight their asses off on this finale because their UFC lives depend on it.”
Edgar has taken both of the previous two meetings with Penn, winning the UFC lightweight title the first time and successfully defending it. Both bouts went the full 25 minutes.
The two were coaches on TUF 19, which has received more headlines for an interesting decision in the quarterfinals and a lack of action throughout than anything else.
