Dana White: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Never Agreed To Face Alexander Gustafsson

UFC president Dana White admitted he made a mistake Saturday night.

White called Alexander Gustafsson and asked if he would face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in early 2014 in London. Gustafsson agreed, and despite not confirming the bout with Nogueira, White announced it.

Well, the Brazilian later phoned in his exit, citing lingering back issues. Gustafsson now faces Jimi Manuwa in March at UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa.

White took his share of blame for the mix up, but also let Nogueira know how unhappy he is with his lack of health as of late. The 37-year-old has been forced to pull out of several planned fights since joining the UFC.

“The fight isn’t for four months,” White said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for the quotes). “And he’s already determined he’s hurt. I don’t understand that.

“The guy is always hurt. Every time you call him, he’s hurt.”

Nogueira is coming off wins over Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans, but has not fought since early in 2013.
