Dan Henderson remembers the PRIDE days of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, but when he looks at the Brazilian now he sees a shell of the former light heavyweight star.
“I think Shogun is no longer the dominant fighter he was in PRIDE,” said Henderson to TATAME. “He seems not to train as hard as before, but he still has skills.”
In 2011, Henderson and Rua had Fight of the Year at UFC 139. The win was Henderson’s return to the UFC and another defeat for Rua.
Rua is 5-6 inside the Octagon and riding a losing streak of two. Chael Sonnen submitted Rua in round one of last month’s UFC Fight Night 26.
Henderson dropped two decisions this year with the most recent coming at UFC 161 opposite Rashad Evans. He returns at UFC Fight Night 32 against Vitor Belfort. It’s on November 9 from Brazil’s Goiania Arena.
