Think about this for a minute.
Cris “Cyborg” Justino hasn’t cut down to 135 pounds yet in her professional career. Invicta FC, her current home, doesn’t have a bevy of top bantamweights for her to compete again if she finally decides to make the drop.
So, how about Justino vs. Cat Zingano?
It would serve a great purpose for both ladies and really generate a perfect challenge for Cyborg to see how she would far against a worthy bantamweight contender.
Zingano’s better than the fighter who was submitted by Ronda Rousey in just 14 seconds recently. She got anxious. Nervous. Whatever it was, “Alpha” is better.
She’s proven in her nine previous pro bouts that she is a Top-5 female fighter in the world.
Cyborg, meanwhile, is a demon. A monster that has left the likes of Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen and most recently, Charmaine Tweet, in her wake.
If the UFC wants to put Cyborg vs. Rousey, they’ve already stated they need to see the Brazilian successfully make 135 pounds.
There’s really no prove in seeing her do so and throwing in an also-ran to test her skills. She can do that in training a month out from the fight.
Let’s get Cyborg vs. Zingano and make it happen in the summer after the reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion takes out another challenger.
That would align the stars perfectly for Rousey to defend her belt in December – or early January depending on the UFC’s year-end schedule – against either her arch-rival Cyborg or the rejuvenated challenger Zingano.
