The idea of a Ronda Rousey vs. Cris Cyborg super-fight in women’s MMA is quickly turning into the Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre dream bout that never happened.
Speaking with Tatame, a news source from Brazil, Cyborg stated that she cannot make the drop down to 135 pounds. Many times before, Rousey, the reigning UFC bantamweight champion, has stated no plans to move up to meet Cyborg.
“I can’t,” she said. “From now on, I will only fight at my weight or in a catch-weight. I haven’t fought in a long time and that’s why I want to go back to my division.”
Cyborg, who was in attendance at UFC on FOX 13 over the weekend and was treated as a VIP by the UFC, is the current Invicta FC 145-pound champion. A training injury knocked her out of a planned December title defense.
