Not due to compete himself until December, interim UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was in attendance at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 76 event to support his Irish fighters.
The card took place from the 3Arena in Dublin, but it was met with mixed emotions for McGregor’s teammates and friends.
In the main event, Paddy Holohan lost via submission to Louis Smolka.
The game is truly bitter sweet! Proud of all my teammates. Respect to every fighter who made that walk tonight. It is not for everyone.

John Kavanagh, the coach for McGregor and many other Ireland-based fighters, also sounded off via social media:
The highest highs and the lowest lows. Blown away by fans support, amazed at my fighters hearts. Monday, back n d gym, the journey continues
