UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman showed off his brand-new accessory, and this one isn’t as nice and shiny as the title.
Weidman suffered a hand injury in training recently, forcing his planned December meeting with Vitor Belfort to be scrapped. So far, no new date has been announced for the world title fight.
“Want to thank my fans for all the support,” Weidman wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be back soon stronger than ever.”
It’s been a rough 2014 for Weidman, as he had to delay a title fight with Lyoto Machida after opting for double-knee surgery. He went on to score a decision over Machida, giving him three straight wins over former UFC champions.
The new UFC 181 main event will feature Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for Hendricks’ welterweight championship. Anthony Pettis-Gilbert Melendez for the lightweight title is also set.
