Chico Camus had the hometown crowd advantage at UFC 164 and used every ounce of their energy. The biggest support came from his 7-year-old son who delivered a special message to his dad at the weigh-ins.
“My son told me at the weigh-ins that you better not lose to this guy,” said Camus to MMA Fighting. “When I was on the bottom, listening to that, I had to get up. I grant this win to Milwaukee and my two sons back at home. This is my city and I remember coming to this stadium wanting to be a professional athlete.”
The judges gave Camus the win over Kyung Ho Kang, with two scoring it 29-28 and one 30-27. Camus is 2-1 under the UFC banner and returned from a defeat to start the year.
Kang failed to win his UFC debut earlier in the year. It was overturned when Alex Caceres tested positive for marijuana.
