Chael Sonnen saw the promotional poster for UFC 167 and noticed it only featured welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks. The co-main event that evening has Sonnen taking on Rashad Evans, but their image was nowhere near the poster.
“Outside of my fight and St. Pierre’s, I don’t know who else is fighting that night,” said Sonnen on TapouT Radio. “The card as a whole has not been promoted. I think when you have Georges St. Pierre on a card, that at times they view that as enough. There’s another storyline here as well that this is the 20th anniversary event of the UFC, so that’s also been taking some headlines.”
Sonnen said he was done as light heavyweight after going 1-1, but took the Evans fight. He comes off a late round one submission over Maurício “Shogun” Rua.
Evans snapped his two fight losing skid this year. He last took a split-decision from Dan Henderson.
UFC 167 comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. It’s on November 16.
