Wanderlei Silva doesn’t have a weekly show like Chael Sonnen, so “The Axe Murderer” took matters into his own hands recently.
Silva confronted Sonnen during an event and filmed the incident. It was later released, and Silva even added a follow-up to the run-in.
Well, as co-host of “UFC Tonight,” Sonnen is given a podium to speak his mind. And, as you might have guessed, he did just that in regards to the Brazilian this past Wednesday night.
“I’m all for him having a little fun. But a little advice: if you’re going to do a publicity stunt, do not bring your own camera, it looks staged,” Sonnen said. “It insults your audience. Accosting a gangster can be hazardous.
“If you want to have a conventional interview, we at ‘UFC Tonight’ will pay your way to come on the show.”
Sonnen and Silva appeared set for a year-end battle, but Silva was forced to postpone such a fight due to injury. Sonnen will now face Rashad Evans at UFC 167 in November.
