Chael Sonnen, a multi-time UFC title contender, has been named the newest World Series of Fighting analyst.
Beginning with the upcoming WSOF 23 event on September 18, Sonnen will be the color commentator for multiple events. WSOF airs on NBC Sports Network and Todd Harris covers the play-by-play.
“I am stoked to join the powerhouse team at World Series of Fighting, and call their fights that feature some of the best mixed martial artists on the planet,” Sonnen said. “World Series of Fighting has done an outstanding job of building their organization into a top-tier franchise in a very short span of time, and I am just proud to be a part of such a fast-growing company.”
Sonnen fought three times for the UFC title and was a standout wrestler before entering into the world of MMA. He has covered the sport for both ESPN and FOX Sports 1.
“We are thrilled to have Chael Sonnen, one of the most colorful individuals in professional sports, join our production,” World Series of Fighting president Ray Sefo said. “We are confident Chael will enhance the fan viewing experience both for our growing national audience on NBCSN and across the globe by providing the insights he learned competing at the highest level of the sport.”
The WSOF 23 card features a main event between Justin Gaethje and Luis Palomino for the lightweight title, along with David Branch vs. Teddy Holder for the light heavyweight belt.
