Chad Mendes knows his last few wins haven’t moved him closer to a title fight rematch in the UFC’s featherweight division.
Saturday night, Mendes will get the chance to do that when he faces Clay Guida at UFC 164.
Despite the lack of “quality” wins, Mendes knows that each time he steps inside the Octagon, he is able to improve himself.
“Every fight’s a great fight in the UFC,” Mendes said. “It gives you experience and it has helped with my confidence.”
Mendes, who was defeated by Jose Aldo last year, has scored impressive finishes over Darren Elkins, Yaotzin Meza and Cody McKenzie since the loss.
“I am finding myself as a fighter and becoming more comfortable with my stand-up,” he said. “After the first knockout of McKenzie, I realized I could put people down.
“Having Duane Ludwig in our camp and we have been drilling tons and tons of stand-up.”
