For Cat Zingano, it was nothing like she planned.
“Alpha,” who worked her way back from a torn knee and the death of her husband, was stunned by Ronda Rousey at UFC 184 Saturday night, finding herself trapped in an armbar just 14 seconds into the bout.
Zingano (9-1) came charging after Rousey (11-0) with a flying knee, but missed. As she tried for a headlock takedown, “Rowdy” reversed and secured the arm.
“It was in, but it wasn’t (expletive) in,” said a stoic Zingano. “She (expletive) won, she did it. She did good.”
Asked about the fight, Zingano simply said “I want to do it again” followed by a series of expletives.
The loss was the first of her career, as Zingano was trying to UFC gold to her championships won in Ring of Fire and Fight To Win.
