UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos ended their trilogy, with Velasquez emerging the victor. Though Velasquez took the third meeting at UFC 166, Santos wasn’t impressed.
“He appears to have a good strategy to win,” said Santos to TATAME. “He pushed, grabbed me, thus avoiding a fight, which made the fight boring. Often the audience started booing. Good way to win, but not convincing to be the best.”
The third encounter was similar to the second. It saw Velasquez dominate, this time ending the fight in the final round.
In their initial meeting, Santos won the title early in the opening round with one punch. The rematch was the opposite with Velasquez taking the decision.
Santos is currently suspended for at least six months and will need the doctors okay to return. Velasquez is expected to return against Fabricio Werdum, but nothing is confirmed.
