The delayed UFC heavyweight championship unification match between Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum has been made official for UFC 188 this June, as the promotion returns to Mexico.
Set for June 13 from Mexico City, the card will see the UFC hit the country for a second time after debuting there in November.
Velasquez (13-1) and Werdum (19-5-1) were set to headline that card, but a knee injury knocked the reigning champion out. The former Arizona State University wrestling standout and ex-NJCAA national champion has fully recovered.
Werdum went on to win the interim title that night, knocking out Mark Hunt. He is 7-2 over two stints inside the Octagon, while Velasquez sports an 11-1 mark.
