Cage Warriors Champion Jim Alers Makes Several Unsuccessful Bids For TUF

Jim Alers, Cage Warriors featherweight champion, dreams like many to be in the UFC. He’s tried out for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) several times though he never made it to our TV sets.

“I tried out a few times,” said Alers to Bloody Elbow. “You know, they don’t have 45 a lot. They’ve only had it about twice, I think, 145s. But, I tried out. I made it to the final cut a few times, actually, and just didn’t make it to that last casting.”

Currently, Alers has his full attention on defending his belt at Cage Warriors 59. He also puts his 10-1 record on the line against Sweden’s Martin Svensson.

When Conor McGregor vacated the title for a UFC contract, Alers won it this past April with a fourth round submission over Joni Salovaara.

TUF returns this Wednesday, September 4 and starts at 10 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
