Former Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey watched in awe at the main event of Bellator 155 Friday night just like everyone else.
And when Rafael Carvalho’s name was read as the winner, Halsey was just as shocked as the rest.
As he prepares to return to action next month at Bellator 156 vs. John Salter, Halsey told FightLine Saturday his thoughts about Carvalho’s controversial split decision win over Melvin Manhoef.
“Terrible fight, terrible decision,” Halsey said. “I can’t wait to fight the guy that’s somehow still holding my belt.”
Carvalho sscored a victory last October over Halsey, handing the former NCAA Div. I All-American his first – and only to date – pro loss. Halsey is 10-1 with three submission victories to his credit, including a 2014 technical submission win in 35 seconds over Alexander Shlemenko to win the belt.
Halsey also vowed to bring nothing but excitement to the cage when he squares off with Salter.
“I can guarantee you this: the ref won’t have to instruct me to fight,” Halsey said. “Never has and never will.
“Tell all the folks to tune in and see what a real fight looks like.”
