Saul “Canelo” Alvarez earned a split decision over Erislandy Lara Saturday night, taking the bout on two of the three scorecards in Las Vegas.
Alvarez (44-1-1) kept just that one “L” courtesy of Floyd Mayweather on his resume, while dealing Lara (19-2-2) his second career defeat.
On social media during the fight, the end result was debated, as some felt Alvarez did more than enough to win, while others had the bout going to Lara.
In other action, Abner Mares defeated Jonathan Oquendo, Francisco Vargas remained unbeaten with a TKO victory over Juan Manuel Lopez and Mauricio Herrera topped Johan Perez.

Judges split. Opposing 115-113 tallies. One score big for Canelo, 117-111. Didn't agree. Feel Lara won the fight. Saw it 7-5 for the Cuban.
