Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko successfully defended his title for an 18th time Saturday night in Madison Square Garden, downing Bryant Jennings in front of over 17,000 fans.
With the win, Klitschko is now third on the all-time list for title defenses and second in the heavyweight division. He trails Joe Louis for the overall record, which is 25, while Larry Holmes defended the heavyweight belt 20 times.
Klitschko (64-3) is now 25-2 all-time in title fights, tying Louis’ record. He has held the belt for over nine years and landed 144 punches during the fight.
Currently, Klitschko holds the WBA (super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight belts.
Of course, all of the boxing world will be focused on this coming Saturday night, as Floyd Mayweather takes on Manny Pacquiao.
