Chris Algieri missed weight for his fight with Manny Pacquiao Friday on his first attempt, but was able to successfully get under to make things official.
Pacquiao came in under 144 pounds, checking in at 143.8. However, Algieri was 144.2 on his first try, dropping the final ounces to make 144, getting all the way down to 143.6. The contest will air on pay-per-view from China.
“Pac-Man” has won two straight and is 56-5-2 overall. His WBO welterweight title will be on the line vs. Algieri, who is 20-0 in his career.
Other bouts include flyweights Zou Shiming vs. Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym, featherweights Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, and junior welterweights Jessie Vargas vs. Antonio DeMarco.
Shiming, a three-time Olympic medalist and two-time winner of gold, and Onesongchaigym are competing in a title-eliminator, while Lomachenko is making his first title defense. Vargas will be putting his secondary title on the line.
