Despite battling through a serious rib injury, Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks wants to get his first title defense scheduled as soon as possible.

Brooks sent a message to Bellator president Scott Coker on Twitter recently. The promotion has set three cards for the start of 2014, filling holes in through March.

Brooks became the champion after finishing Michael Chandler last month. He defeated Chandler for the interim title earlier this year, but the belt was placed up for grabs when Eddie Alvarez signed with the UFC.
