Michael Chandler successfully defended his lightweight title Saturday night in the main event of Bellator 165 with a split decision win over Benson Henderson.

Chandler used a strong opening round to withstand a rally by Henderson, a former UFC champion. The card aired on Spike from the SAP Center in San Jose.

In the co-main event, Michael Page picked up a split decision over Fernando Gonzalez, while Keri Melendez – the wife of former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez – earned a 47-second knockout in her MMA debut.
