Bellator 148 Predictions: Will Paul Daley Stumble?

For the first time in 2016, Bellator MMA hits the airwaves this Friday night with Bellator 148.

The card has taken a bit of a hit due to injuries, as Josh Koscheck was set to debut with the promotion before pulling out.

Instead, Koscheck’s former UFC opponent, Paul Daley, will headline the Spike TV main card vs. Andy Uhrich.

Along with Daley-Uhrich, Chris Honeycutt faces Paul Bradley, Ryan Couture battles Patricky “Pitbull” Freire and Raphael Butler tangles with Tony Johnson from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Below are predictions for the four main cards, along with a list of prelim winners:

Paul Daley vs. Andy Uhrich

Daley has everything to lose, but “Semtex” has been fighting like that for almost his entire career. The 32-year-old has won four in a row, including three finishes, and is 8-1 over his last nine.

Uhrich has won his last three, but is fighting in Bellator – and against his toughest foe to date – for the first time since 2014.

Prediction: Daley via first round TKO

Paul Bradley vs. Chris Honeycutt

This is a rematch of a fight from Bellator 140 that was stopped early due to an accidental clash of heads that opened a cut on Bradley’s forehead. Before that, the former University of Iowa wrestler was looking good vs. Honeycutt.

It will be interesting to see who has made improvements/changes since that fight. Honeycutt is unbeaten in seven MMA appearances, while Bradley has 22 career victories in 30 pro fights.

Prediction: Bradley via decision

Ryan Couture vs. Patricky “Pitbull” Freire

This is a key moment in the career of Couture, as he could take a giant step forward towards title contention with a win over Pitbull. He’s won four straight, including back-to-back Bellator submissions, while Freire is just 1-2 over his last three.

Prediction: Couture via first round submission

Raphael Butler vs. Tony Johnson

Look for these two big boys to throw leather from the opening bell on. Butler has five knockout wins in his MMA career and 28 from his pro boxing days, while Johnson has scored four KOs in nine wins.

Prediction: Butler via first round KO

Prelim Winners:

Thomas Diagne, Ilima MacFarlane, Javy Ayala, John Reddy, Art Arcienega, Mason Fowler, Paul Ruiz, Matt Perez, Nick Bustamante, Eric Huggins, John Paul Elias.
